The University of Westminster Sanctuary Scholarship supports students seeking asylum or with refugee status living in the United Kingdom who are not eligible to receive postgraduate financial support from Student Finance.

Requirements For University of Westminster Sanctuary Scholarship 2025

To be considered for the University of Westminster Postgraduate Sanctuary Scholarship, you must fulfil all criteria below:

  • You must have an offer from the University of Westminster for a place on a full-time master’s course starting in September 2024 or January 2025
  • You must be resident in the UK
  • You must hold one of the following eligible immigration statuses before submitting your application
    • UK asylum seeker
    • UK discretionary leave to remain (as a result of an asylum application)
    • UK limited leave to remain (as a result of an asylum application)
    • UK refugee status obtained
  • Students who already have a master’s degree are not eligible to apply
  • Students who are able to receive taught postgraduate student loans from Student Finance are not eligible to apply
  • The following categories of students are not eligible:
    • Postgraduate Diploma
    • Professional courses (eg RIBA pt III, ACCA, CIMA, CiLEX)
    • Conversion courses (eg Graduate Diploma in Law)
    • Integrated Masters/MPhil/
